Chopard, born in Switzerland in 1860, is a family-run, independent watch and jewelry brand with a global reputation.
In 1996, Chopard established its manufacture in Fleurier, Swiss Jura Mountains, and it independently operates all watchmaking processes, including planning, design, component manufacturing, and production.
In 1997, Chopard introduced the L.U.C 1860 watch featuring its first in-house movement, the L.U.C 1.96. Upon its release, the watch was immediately recognized as the 'Watch of the Year' by Swiss watch magazines and Montres Passion, acknowledging its excellence. Having successfully passed rigorous certifications such as the Geneva Seal, Chronometer Certification, and Fleurier Certification, Chopard's continuous efforts in movement production were rewarded with several accolades at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), considered the Oscars of the watch industry. Notably, the L.U.C Full Strike, introduced in 2017, received the highest honor at the Grand Prix, validating its technological prowess and quality in the watch industry. Currently, Chopard possesses 11 base movements and over 80 variations of movements.
Renowned for its ethical business practices, Chopard has been using 100% ethically mined gold in all its products since July 2018, aiming to contribute to the sustainability of the luxury watch and jewelry industry. Additionally, Chopard incorporates Lucent Steel™, a proprietary recycled steel alloy, in its steel products. By the end of 2023, all Chopard steel watches, including bracelets and cases, will include 80% recyclced steel and the brand has set a goal to rise this figure to minimum of 90% by 2025. With an effort to sustainably develop values such as craftsmanship, independence, creativity, and ethical management, Chopard currently operates more than 800 stores worldwide.
